Walking, Talking, and Preaching the Gospel

So instead of going in order I want to share the best news ever!!! WE HAVE A NEW INVESTIGATOR!!! So the Armenian was actually an Egyptian who has been in the country for 5 years. He has a very vast knowledge of the bible. He actually does not have any sons... It was actually his brother..We kinda were hesitant to go and teach him, but we finally decided to go. We walked to the park which is just down the street from where he lives and were able to teach him the entire Restoration. He has a very limited amount of English so, we had to really think about the way we had to word things. The spirit was really the one who taught the lesson though. We gave him an English Book of Mormon, and we told him we would get an Arabic one for him as well. He seems very eager to learn more though. We were able to get the Arabic book of Mormon the next day, however he hasn't been home to give it to him. We have an appointment with him on Tuesday though. We were so excited that our finding efforts actually are working... Because after we had a lesson with him we were able to set up 3 more potential investigator lessons this week.

This week has been so HOT!!! It was already 98 degrees. And every time we talked about it with our less active members they just laughed at us and told us that this isn't hot. I have no idea how I am going to survive this weather in the desert in the summer. If it is already 98 degrees, I can only imagine how bad it will be in August.

So this week we were able to go to the library and get on Mormon.org and talk to people for a while. I was also able to read the talks given during the priesthood session of conference. They really were great. I think the best quote I got from those conferences was during Uchtdorf's talk he said, "The most important this is to keep trying-sometimes it takes several attempts before people find success. So don't give up. Don't lose faith. Keep your heart close to the Lord, and he will give you the power of deliverance. He will make you free."
This week we had President interviews as well, and the one thing that President Hobbs said to me that really stuck out was that I need to know my Savior better. So I began to think about how I could accomplish that. Well the funny thing is that I had to give a training on how to pray with faith in zone meeting. What better way to get to better know my Savior than through prayer?

How do you have more effective prayers? I know for me as I was studying this topic, I came to the conclusion that most of the time my prayers are just rote presentation... I never really change it up. So this week I got down on my knees, and tried having a real conversation with Heavenly Father. I got specific instead of being general. I used names instead of just saying my family or investigator. I asked more humbly and then I listened carefully for those answers.

I then decided during my personal study each week I would focus on one Christ-like attribute. This past week I really focused on Humility and how to become more humble in my life. Then this week I am starting to focus on Charity. What Christ-like attribute do you think you need to be a little better at, or which one would help you in your life? This week I challenge you to focus on a Christ-like attribute and try to apply it in your life.

Well I hope that everyone is going to have an amazing Easter. This morning I went to Goodwill and bought an Easter outfit for 6 bucks. I was pretty proud of my purchase. I will send everyone pictures. Well I love everyone so much and hope to hear from you soon.

Love,
Sister Jessica Bell

P.S. Transfers are this coming week. I don't think that I will be transferred, but you never know. :)
